Sex Offenders Getting Younger

Australia's ABC News reported today that increasingly children are sexually abusing children. The findings came from STOP Trust Agency in New Zealand which treats sex offenders. The agency reports that it is now having five and six year olds being referred for treatment.

STOP Team Leader Maureen Lorimer said she'd run a teen program for 15 years, but started a child program three years ago. She said "Our drive around this I think is around education and prevention, and finding ways to stop this behavior very early so that these children don't go on and engage in sexual behavior as adolescents."

Paddy Ford, President of Principals' Federation in New Zealand said his organization is noticing an increase in sexual behaviors among children. He said parents need to do more to keep their children protected from pornography on the Internet and other media.
